What is CBD Isolate?

CBD products have been on the market for some time, and their popularity is only increasing. You may have heard of the three main types of CBD available: broad spectrum CBD, full spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate. Understanding the differences between them makes your decision easier when deciding which one is right for you.

What is CBD Isolate?

CBD Isolate is a basic form of CBD. It does not contain any other cannabinoids because the pure natural CBD is isolated, hence the name. It is still extracted from the cannabis plant, but additional steps are taken to remove the other cannabinoids. Therefore, it does not contain any THC. CBD Isolate is a crystal that is extracted from the hemp plant. This crystal is ground into a powder to make it easier to consume. It does not have a taste or smell.

How is CBD Isolate Produced?

Once CBD is extracted from the leaves, flowers, and stems of the cannabis plant. Typically, the hemp plant is used due to its low amount of THC. First, the hemp is processed with a carbon dioxide extraction process. The carbon dioxide extraction is an expensive process but also the safest. There is no toxic residue left behind.

This process creates a crude extract that must be further processed. Next, winterization takes out the plant wax and lipids. Finally, decarboxylation turns the CBDa into CBD by using heat and take a significant amount of time. The oil goes through a fractional distillation process three times.

This process concentrates the CBD and separates it from other cannabinoids. First, this concentrated CBD is put in a reactor and mixed with a solvent. Next, the solution is heated and then cooled to create a crystallized CBD. Next, it is washed in the reactor with the same non-polar solvent from earlier in the process. This part of the process intends to purify the CBD by removing any contaminants, making it a better product for you.

From here, the oil is converted to a powder that is placed in a vacuum oven for about two days to remove all solvents from the isolate. This process creates a solvent free 99 percent pure CBD Isolate.

What is CBD Isolate Used For?

CBD Isolate was heated during the decarboxylating process, which means it does not need to be heated again before you use it. Since it does not need to be heated, CBD Isolate is incredibly versatile. This gives you many different ways you can enjoy using CBD isolate.

Inhalation

One of the easiest ways to inhale CBD Isolate is to add it to vape juice. You can add however much you want to get the desired potency. If you are an e-cigarette user, this may be a great option for you. You can mix CBD Isolate with terpenes and create a CBD concentrate. Then, you can vape this concentrate. By adding terpenes back into the CBD Isolate, this puts back some of the cannabis compounds that were removed. This process can give your CBD isolate a pleasant smell and add more benefits.

Ingesting

You can mix a water soluble CBD Isolate into any drink or food. You can consider adding it to soups, sauces, and dressings. You must be careful when adding it to the food that you plan to heat. If you add too much heat, you can reduce the potency of the isolate. Adding it to smoothies and juice is another great way to take the isolate. You can swallow the isolate as it is without mixing it with anything. The crystal is measured and put into capsules or pills to ensure you are getting an accurate dosage.

Sublingually

When taking the CBD Isolate sublingually, you are placing it under the tongue to allow it to dissolve. It takes about 90 seconds, and then you can drink something to wash it down. Taking it this way helps the isolate go directly to the bloodstream because your mucous membranes are absorbing it. When you place it under your tongue, you completely bypass the liver and digestive system. Since it does not have a taste or smell, it should not be difficult for you to take it this way.

Mixing

There are many ways you can choose to mix your CBD isolate. You can mix it with a carrier oil, like coconut oil, to create a CBD oil tincture. If you want to apply it topically to your skin, you can mix the CBD Isolate with skin oils and rub it into any area you want to feel better. Finally, you can mix it with sweeteners, like honey or stevia, to add it to desserts.
